Toilet Cubicle Dimensions, Layouts and How to Measure
Get the layout type and the opening measurement right and everything else follows. Get them wrong and the run does not close against the wall.

Cubicles are made to the opening, not to a catalogue size. Before anything is priced we need two things: which of the four layouts the run sits in, and the true clear width of the opening at three heights. Everything else — bay widths, door sizes, pilaster positions — is set out from those two facts.
The sizes below are the ranges most commercial washrooms land in, not fixed products. We manufacture every bay to order in Bolton on a seven working day lead time, cut in three to five, so a non-standard width costs no more programme than a standard one.

In-between walls
The run closes against a wall at both ends. Wall channel at each end, a pilaster between every bay, headrail across the top. The least forgiving layout — the total width has to be exact.

Wall at the left-hand end only. Wall channel on the left, an end pilaster on the right, and the headrail returns to that pilaster. Handed, so state which way you are looking at the run.

Freestanding
No walls at either end. End pilasters both sides, no wall channels, and the headrail carries the whole run. The most tolerant layout for site variation, and usually the simplest to set out.

There is no standard size to force the room into. Every bay is cut to the opening you measured, including a reduced end bay where the width does not divide evenly.

Setting-out checked before cutting
We check your dimensions against the layout type before anything goes on the saw. A handing error caught at drawing stage costs nothing; caught on site it costs a week.

Seven day lead time
All ranges, all layouts, seven working days from order with manufacturing in three to five. A non-standard bay width does not add a day to the programme.
Common questions
How do I measure the opening for a run of cubicles?
Measure the clear width at three heights, low, mid and high, and give us the smallest of the three. Do the same for depth at both ends of the run. Note anything that intrudes: skirting, pipe boxing, tiled reveals, radiators, a window board. We build in the adjustment, but only if we know where the tight point is.
What if the walls are out of square?
That is normal, and it is why wall channels and adjustable feet exist. The channel takes up a bow in the wall and the legs take up a fall in the floor. Tell us the difference between your widest and narrowest measurement so we can size the end bay to absorb it, rather than finding it on the day.
Do you make non-standard bay sizes?
Every cubicle is made to order, so an 872mm bay costs the same programme as an 850mm one. There is no standard product to deviate from. Send the surveyed opening and the layout type and we will set the bays out, including the reduced end bay if the total width does not divide evenly.
What size does an accessible cubicle need to be?
An accessible compartment is significantly larger than a standard bay because it has to hold the transfer space and grab rail positions set out in current Approved Document M guidance. We will not quote a fixed figure here, because it depends on the building type and the approach. Confirm the clear dimensions with the architect or building control and we will manufacture to them.
Which way should the doors open?
Outward opening is the default in shallow bays and is normally expected on accessible compartments so the door cannot be blocked from inside. Inward opening suits deep bays and tight circulation in front of the run. State which you want on the enquiry, along with handing, because it changes the hinge and the door stop.
How many pilasters does my run need?
It depends on the layout. In-between walls needs a pilaster between every bay plus a wall channel at both ends. A corner layout needs a wall channel at one end and an end pilaster at the other. Freestanding needs end pilasters at both ends and no channels. Tell us the layout and we will schedule the parts.
